We are pleased to say that after the announcement from the First Minister and subsequently the confirmation of guidelines from Scottish Golf, Craigielaw can open the course on the 29th May for members.
Unfortunately golf will not be the same as it was prior to the lock down. We now have a number of measures/rules to comply with. Please read the information on these measures below and comply with them when you are back playing. Please note information below updated on the 19th June following further guidance from the Scottish Government.
In advance of play:
- Travel to the golf course from your home must be in line with Scottish Government guidelines. In phase 1 local travel is noted as broadly 5 miles from home.
- If you are in the highest risk (shielding) group outlined by the Government, then you should stay at home.
- If you are ill or have any symptoms of COVID19 then stay at home.
- Schedule your tee-time online (preferably) or by calling the golf shop on 01875 870800. Please note the shop will only be manned from the 28th May. Under no circumstances should you arrive at the club without booking in advance.
- Play will now be allowed from today (Friday 19th June) with players from up to three households, this allows predominantly three balls to play and four balls as long as the amount of households in one tee time does not exceed three.
- Ensure you have enough golf balls, tees etc. and you should not exchange equipment with other members.
- Aim to arrive at the Club no more than 15 minutes prior to play.
- Park your car in such a way as to facilitate physical distancing.
- Change your shoes in the car park
On the course:
- You must check in at the window to the rear of the Pro shop and provide details of who is playing in your group. Players then wait for the first tee to clear and when it is their time make their way to the tee and tee off. Social distancing at all times, no shaking hands, touching flags etc. With no rakes allowed on the course, golfers are to make their very best efforts to smooth the sand using their club and/or their feet.
- Following play of a hole, do not enter the next teeing area until the all members of the group in front have played their tee-shots and exited the teeing area.
- Please, do not share equipment, food or drink with other players during your round.
- Do not use on-course ball cleaners, course furniture etc.
- You must not touch the flag or flagstick. Putt with the flagstick in and remove your own ball from the hole. Remember not every putt needs to be holed out in casual golf.
After your round:
- Return directly to your car, change your shoes, put your equipment in your car and leave. Do not store your equipment in your locker.
In addition, the following guidelines should be observed:
- Use toilet facilities at home before you leave.
- Bring your own drinks / food to the course.
- Bring your own hand sanitiser to the course and use regularly during the round
Bookings open online
Tee time bookings for the main course can be made online (if you need any help logging in please let us know) or by calling the golf shop on 01875 870800 (only from 28th May onwards) up to 7 days in advance of the date of play.
Tee times can be booked from 8am to 7.30pm each day.
The South Links can be booked by calling the golf shop 1 day in advance again you must register in the pro shop on the day of play and provide details who is playing in your group.
With demand high and supply lower than normal there may be some disappointment but staff will do all they can to spread play as evenly as possible amongst members. A member can only book and use one tee time per day. In the initial stages of opening up times will be only for members and any existing booking that cannot be moved.
In the coming weeks we will allow members guests and visitors to return.
Facilities – Only the course and south links open
Please note in the initial stages of opening up, the course and south links will be the only facilities open. As things progress we will aim to open up the range, putting green etc. Toilet facilities will not be open for the initial stages of opening up.
Members can retrieve clubs from their locker by arranging a time to visit with the pro shop staff. We will leave at the front door of the clubhouse you will not be allowed to put your clubs back into you locker until the clubhouse reopens.
Rental trolleys are available and will be sanitised each day and there will be a sanitising station to clean the trolleys on completion of play.
We understand that some of these measures will be frustrating but some will only be in place for a short period. Once we see how things operate we will look to amend/remove some measures. We also appreciate that other clubs may be doing some things differently the measures above are what we have decided to implement.
We hope you enjoy getting back playing again.
